3 Ways to Call in Close: Power Dialer, Predictive Dialer, and Chloe

It’s Monday morning. You open your CRM and there are 200 leads in the queue. Forty are new inbound signups from the weekend that nobody’s touched. Sixty are warm follow-ups from last week’s outreach. The rest are cold lists your team needs to grind through before Friday.

So who’s calling what? And more importantly—how do you tackle all those calls before your leads go cold?

If your tech stack is just a spreadsheet and a landline, this is incredibly manual effort (and not optimal speed-to-lead).

If you want to seriously scale your calling, Close gives you three ways to make more calls, faster — and each one is built for a different kind of business.

Here’s how to pick which one is right for your sales motion.

1. Power Dialer: For Focused, Rep-Driven Outbound

The Power Dialer is Close’s automated dialing tool for reps working a list one lead at a time, in rapid succession.

You build a Smart View—that’s Close-speak for a filtered list of leads matching whatever criteria you set — hit the call button, and Close starts dialing the leads in order. The second a call ends, the next number is already ringing.

That sounds simple. The impact isn’t. Reps burn real time on the friction between calls: scrolling, clicking, finding the next number, getting distracted. Strip that out and you scale a rep’s effort dramatically.

"After moving our team to Close's built-in Power Dialer, we saw a 60% increase in outbound call volume and a 28% increase in outbound call duration," says Sarah Haselkorn, Sales Operations Manager at MakeSpace.

Who the Power Dialer is for: Reps who need to burn through a warm or cold list without losing momentum. SDRs working a daily call quota. AEs doing concentrated follow-up sprints.

The trade-off: It’s still one human, one call at a time. You’re scaling your rep’s effort, but it’s still not fully optimized for the highest-volume calling. If you’re losing deals because a single rep can only physically work the phone for so long in a day, the Power Dialer won’t fix that — the next option might.

2. Predictive Dialer: For High-Volume Teams That Only Want Answered Calls

The Predictive Dialer dials multiple numbers at once on a rep’s behalf. When a real human answers, Close routes them straight to an available rep. Voicemails, busy signals, dead numbers — your reps never hear them. They only get connected when someone picks up.

It “predicts” which dials will connect and which reps will be available to take the call.

The math here is peak efficiency — all calls are pick-ups with zero effort by your reps. Every minute a rep spends listening to ringing or leaving the same voicemail for the hundredth time is a minute they’re not selling. The Predictive Dialer absorbs all of that. Reps stay warm, stay in flow, and talk to more humans per hour.

"You don't even need to pick up the phone and dial — press one button, and you're already on the line. The call will sync automatically inside your lead," says Jovana Trifunovic, Sales Manager at Case3D.

Who The Predictive Dialer is for: Teams running high-volume outbound where missed calls and voicemails would otherwise eat the workday. Think outbound-heavy SDR teams or agencies with calling motions across many clients at once.

The trade-off: Predictive dialing needs enough reps online to absorb the answered calls—otherwise you’re not going to see maximum benefits. For that reason, it’s only available on the Close Scale Plan. If you’re a one-person operation, skip this one.

3. Chloe: For the Calls That Should Happen Without You

Chloe is Close’s AI sales teammate, built directly into the product — not a third-party AI voice agent bolted on. Chloe makes real voice calls, runs qualification and discovery, and logs everything to the lead record automatically.

Every new form submission gets a natural, human-quality call within minutes. Chloe asks about their needs, explains what your business does, handles objections, and books a meeting.

If you’re struggling to keep up with inbound lead volume, Chloe can handle first-touch qualification and scheduling, so human reps can focus on active opportunities instead of initial triage.

The Power Dialer and Predictive Dialer both need a human to take the call. Chloe is the option for when a human isn’t available.

That weekend inbound queue we mentioned? Chloe can call every one of those leads within minutes of them signing up — at 11 p.m. on Saturday, at 6 a.m. on Sunday, whenever they come in.

Chloe is the only way most small teams can capture every inbound lead at their highest moment of interest without hiring a 24/7 SDR bench.

Who Chloe is for: Teams with one of three problems:

  • Too many leads — There are more qualified leads than the team can realistically work, and coverage gaps are causing missed opportunities. The leads might also be lower priority or outside the team’s core focus.
  • Too slow to respond — Conversion depends on immediate or after-hours follow-up, and humans cannot respond fast enough.
  • Humans’ time is better spent elsewhere — Reps generate more value closing or advancing deals, and prospecting or early qualification is not the best use of their time.

The trade-off: If your lead volume is low, or if you’re able to personally call all your inbound leads instantly, you probably don’t have an urgent need for Chloe.

Note: As of this writing, Chloe is in open Beta (currently US and English only). Chloe will be available to all Close users in June 2026.

So Which One is Right for You?

Three questions, in this order:

  1. Who should be making this call — a human or AI? First-touch qualification, after-hours inbound, and high-volume initial outreach are Chloe’s job. Real closing conversations are your reps’ job.
  2. When does the call need to happen? If the answer is “within five minutes, regardless of what time it is,” Chloe. If the answer is “when my reps log into Close at the beginning of the day,” then one of the Dialers will be perfect.
  3. What’s the volume? Solo or small team grinding a list, choose the Power Dialer. Large team running heavy outbound, choose the Predictive Dialer. Small team running heavy inbound, choose Chloe.

Still Unsure? Try all three.

You don't have to pick on day one. The fastest way to figure out which method fits which kind of call is to put each one in front of your team and watch what happens. Reps will tell you quickly where the Power Dialer earns its keep, where the Predictive Dialer pays off, and where Chloe quietly closes the gap you didn't know you had.

That's the point. Let humans do what only humans do — read the room, build trust, close the deal. Let the software handle the rest.

Try all three for free with your 14-day trial of Close.
