Episode 3: Cold calling for a cause

Hi, is this Marios? This is gonna be the worst for me because I know you're gonna take clips from this episode and constantly post how bad I am at this. Jen, I'm gonna be talk to you as a friend right now, not being so much of a dick. Listen, you do have a lot of flaws, okay? You are annoying, you are lacking in ba basic social skills and hygiene skills as well.

Frankly, I dunno who raised you were, you raised them, but I dunno, I don't wanna, I don't wanna dwell on that too much. One thing I will tell you is you are one of the bravest people I know, and nothing can go wrong here. You're calling with a good purpose, with a good reason. Frankly, if someone's actually horrible with you, which is probably what you're, are you worried about that really?

All right guys. Today's competition is all about calling for a cause cold calling, which makes me feel so nervous for you guys. Good luck. Uh, you'll both be putting closes power dialer to good use to see who can collect the most donations for your local dog shelter. So, Jen, just remember it's for the puppies.

For the dogs. Okay? Thank you, Rena. All right. You guys both have a local list of people to call who meet the following criteria. They're gonna be working at a company with from two to 10 people, or 11 to 50 people. They've been in their current role for at least one year, and they have either dog, cat, or pet mentioned somewhere in their LinkedIn profile.

Okay? Oh, so these people are, they're already animal lovers, so you should be okay. We'll give you each 30 minutes to cold call your hearts out and collect some cash for some doggos. Whoever collects the most donations wins. And remember, at the end of these six competitions, whoever wins the most competitions will either be donating to Will's charity, rework training, or Jen's charity, many Paws Global Rescue.

And the Loser is gonna be subject to a punishment chosen by you, the viewer. And as a reminder to you both, Jen is winning two nil right now. Will, this is your chance, bud. You gotta do it for the British people. I, um. Have no fear that I would do it for the British people today. Um, this is something I've been asking for a long time.

Didn't make sense in the past. You know, we're always focused on emails now we're doing something that will excels in think stuff out there, lack of fear or shame. Uh, so I'm, I'm, I'm here for it. Um, Jen, um, I was gonna give you a pep talk, but you are gonna, this is gonna be rough. Like, just think about all the things that could go wrong.

You haven't cold called and insult. Do you even know what you're gonna say? They might actually laugh at you. And the cameras are rolling. It's gonna capture every single last moment of this. But like, don't be nervous, but like, and not only that, but this episode's actually gonna be, it's recorded, it can be put on the world.

So if you really mess up, like this is not the time to do it. So, you know, no pressure. But listen in the, the tiniest of tin chances that I win, how humiliating will this be for you? This is the only reason I'm saying yes. It's for the slight tiny off chance I could beat you in this. You are done. Your reputation is done, everything is done, and I will replay this video every day for the rest of my life.

Are you an animal liker or can you, so I'm calling, this is Jen Allen Knuth. I'm calling from a local shelter in the area, me, paws Global Rescue. I'm gonna shoot you straight. I'm actually trying to raise money for this shelter 'cause I'm a big dog lover and I'm in a competition to try to raise as much as I could.

You wouldn't be maybe open to donating like $5 to this shelter, would you?

You would? Oh my gosh, can I be honest with you? You're my first call I've made and you're making this so less scary. So it sounds like you quite like dogs, but you can't really get one. Um, the reason I was calling, like I said, I don't work there or anything like that. I'm just trying to help the team over there out and um, so part of that is I just thought I called some people in the local area.

I'm in Halifax as well, and, uh, see if they might be willing to at least like pledge to donate. I wouldn't ask for any money here today, but I'd send you a link and see if you might be willing to help 'em out. It doesn't have to be any huge amount. Like a little bit that I can help feed a dog for a week or so.

The the reason I was calling is because I spotted that and I thought you might like dogs and it's good to know you do. I, I'm working with the team over at, uh, the Rescue Center down in Halifax. They're called Fly With Me Animal Rescue. Have you heard of them? Okay. Well, they're a rescue shelter that helps take rescue dogs in and rehome them, et cetera.

Um, and I really wanna help them out. I don't work there. So instead, what I thought I'd do is maybe call a few people in the local area in Halifax and see if you might be open to helping them out with a donation or something of that, that nature. Wouldn't have to be much, but any help you can do, you could, you know, keep them going for a little bit longer.

Uh, it's a, it's an animal rescue shelter. I dropped in there last week and they're doing some pretty done good work. Relocating some tubs and new homes.
